Not long after I started shaving my head again (after a lapse of eight years), I discovered the Head Blade. I thought I'd found the Holy Grail! However, now that I've used it for a few months, I've decided I really like the Gillette Mach 3 better. The blades are much easier to keep clean and there isn't nearly the "drag" when shaving that there is with the Schick Attra II blades the Head Blade uses.
I'm interested in how many others of the tribe have used the Head Blade. Also, for those who have used it, what was or is your experience with it? Do you have any tips for more effectively using this device?
I look forward to hearing from everyone.
William

Re: The Head Blade
Tue, May 24, 2005 - 12:10 PMHey William, I too am a previous HeadBlade user. I loved the idea but after a few months also decided that I preferred the Mach 3 blade for a closer shave. I'm kinda fanatic about shaving my head and there can't be even a suggestion of stubble when I finish. I still use the shaving cream HeadSlick for my head and face and prefer that over other products that i've tried. Others have had much success with the HeadBlade but I guess that I'm just a failure (:-). -

Re: The Head Blade
Tue, May 24, 2005 - 1:10 PMThanks, Jim. Sounds like you and I are similar in that respect. I'm just as fanatic and I love the HeadSlick! -

Re: The Head Blade
Tue, May 24, 2005 - 8:22 PMI contacted Todd Greene at one point, asking that they produce HeadSlick in a travel size. He said they were working on that but haven't seen it yet. I've purchased the sample packs for travel but they don't travel well. I finally bought a small screwtop container and that works out well! Necessity IS the mother of invention ;-). Also, I have found HeadSlick at RiteAid if they are in your area. It's cheaper there than ordering online! YAY! -

Re: The Head Blade
Fri, May 27, 2005 - 12:15 PMHow do you feel about the HeadLube? Do you use it, and if so, do you use the Matte finish or the Glossy? I use the Glossy, but it's a little heavy for my skin type. Is there a better moisturiser? -

Re: The Head Blade
Fri, May 27, 2005 - 5:09 PMI like headslick and headlube, both glossy and matte. The headblade is prone to slice open the scalp around the ears and back of my head, no matter how carefully i shave.
i like the plain old Mach 3.

Re: The Head Blade
Sat, May 28, 2005 - 10:57 AMI've have and have used the glossy HeadLube. I love a brilliant, shiny shaved head on a guy but found the HeadLube a little too heavy too. Initially, I would use too much. Once I started cutting back to a VERY small amount and rubbing it on my hands and then rubbing over freshly shaved dome, it was better. My scalp tends to be a bit greasy during the day, so I always have WetOne's wipes available and degrease my scalp several times a day. So, I'll use the HeadLube with a touch of sunscreen on my head, especially during summer months. But if I'm going to be inside mostly, I prefer to just use an astringent (SeaBreeze) on my head after shaving which gives a nice natural shine.

Re: The Head Blade
Wed, June 22, 2005 - 4:40 PMI was happily using the head blade until I took a big chunk out, hours to stop bleeding and days to heal. Got out of the habit, but oh am I itching to shave it all off again??!! -

Re: The Head Blade
Fri, September 9, 2005 - 6:30 PMI love the Gillette three blade razor. Even better is the new M3Power razor by Gillette. The blades even seem to last longer. -
-
Re: The Head Blade
Mon, November 7, 2005 - 7:37 AMyou are so right Eagle, the M3Power razor by Gillette is also my choice. The blades do seem to last longer and the shave is the smoothest i have ever felt. -
-
Re: The Head Blade
Mon, November 7, 2005 - 2:37 PMPersonally I use the HeadBlade and love it. I will use an M3Power on occasion, but prefer the HeadBlade when I shave in the shower. One thing that I noticed is that whether or not I use shaving cream or HeadLube, if I put it on and wait at least a minute that I get a much closer shave.

Re: The Head Blade
Mon, November 7, 2005 - 7:03 AMI got a Headblade directly from Todd, as a gift for the baldbychoicemen group founder... :-)
Anyway after trying it for a while I decided I like better the mach III...
with the Headblade I got razorburn, am sure it's cause of the blades,
not the razor itself.
Anyway, after more than 10 years of shaving my scalp, and after
trying all the razors available here, I can tell that the MachIII is the safest,
almost impossible to get nicks and razorburn with it... hence it's my
choice.
During my recent trip in the USA I finally got a bottle of Headslick: I can
say that am really impressed by the product, best shaving cream I've
tried. Still have to try the Headlube, but am curious about it, even if
my scalp doesn't need any help to shine! :-)

Re: The Head Blade
Mon, November 7, 2005 - 10:44 PMI was not very good at using the Head Blade. I only use the Mach 3 and cannot imagine replacing it with anything. I have found that I can get a much closer head shave with the Mach 3 and shaving gel than any other method. I am always interested in how guys shave. It was a bitch for me to learn how to do it by feel and not end up with cuts. I find it a turnon just using the razor.
The problem I have is shaving my balls with its piercing.

Sat, November 25, 2006 - 5:52 AMWow, I sure am learning a lot from this thread. I wish the Headblade could use MachIII blades - I too have cut the back of my head badly with the Schick atra. -

Re: The Head Blade
Sat, November 25, 2006 - 8:56 PMhead slick and lube are the best. first time i usd them got carried away and did my balls and ass too. love the shit

Re: The Head Blade
Mon, November 27, 2006 - 11:08 PMI tried the Head Blade a few times. I've -never- been so cut up as the first time I did it. I never did get used to it, so I went back to my trust Gillette Sensor. Then again, I'm not much of a fanatic about stubble. -

Re: The Head Blade
Fri, January 5, 2007 - 8:29 PMI tried the Headblade and really wanted to give it a chance, but it was just too clunky. It's fine on the straightaways, but hell in the hairpin turns around the ears. I thought it took way too much time.
Gimme Barbasol and a Gillette Pivot Plus and I can get my head smooth as a billiard ball in less than 2 minutes. -

Re: The Head Blade
Thu, August 2, 2007 - 8:37 PMAlao just got a Head Blade w/ the triple blade attachement. I find I need to go over everything with my Mach 3 with M3Power blade refills anyhow. Also gave myself a nasty nick with the Head Blade. Might try it again next week, if I'm not satisfied still, I'll return it. The Head Slick and the Head Lube are wonderful though. -

Re: The Head Blade
Sat, August 4, 2007 - 10:10 AMI also can recommend HeadShed too.. which is an exfoliation scrub. Good for stripping off any dead skin, soap scum etc. Will help to make your scalp shine too! Highly recommended.
